Do you know how many Shakespeare plays you have to choose from in the DC area this week? (A shocking answer!)

Do you know how many Shakespeare plays you have to choose from in the DC area this week? SIX!
How cool is it to live in the Washington DC area where you get the choice of SIX Shakespeare plays performing at any one time! And at prices starting at the bargain basement price of $15.00.

Here’s the shows you can catch this week:
Richard II: (DC) Shakespeare Theater Company
Henry V: (DC) Shakespeare Theater Company
Comedy of Errors: (Baltimore MD)  The Shakespeare Factory Players
Measure for Measure: (MD) Baltimore Shakespeare Festival
And a little further out, but well worth the trip
Twelfth Night: (VA) Blackfriars Playhouse Staunton, VA
Henry VI, Part 2: (VA) Blackfriars Playhouse Staunton, VA

I’m looking forward to catching the The Shakespeare Factory Players for the first time this Saturday (Feb. 20th), performing The Comedy of Errors at the amazingly low price of $15.  I’ll also be getting my tickets within the next couple of days  to see Henry VI  at my favorite theater the Blackfriars Playhouse  in Staunton.

See the Marylandshakespeare.com calendar for more details on these and other up coming events.

    • Thanks! Ya know I saw that on the side of a bus and meant to look it up. I think I subconsciously pushed it to the back of my mind since it was Dancing, and no words. Shakespeare without words?? But it takes all types to make the world go round, and for all I know it could be the next best thing to sliced bread (I’m not the most artsy type person in world:).
So’ thank you for reminding me, and if you know of anything else, please feel free to pass it on.

      Sincerely
      Jamie

      • I heard Synetic’s R&J last year (also silent) was really good.

I’m not sure if you have these on your calendar, but here’s what I know about:

        Montgomery Playhouse is doing A Midsummer Night’s Dream April 16th – May 2nd, 2010 http://www.montgomeryplayhouse.org/season.htm

        Montgomery College Rockville Campus is also doing MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM Wednesday–Saturday, April 14–17, 2010 at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 2 p.m. http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/pac/rockville_college_events/midsummer_nights_dream.htm

The Acting Company did R&J at GMU on Valentine’s Day … I wish I’d gotten over to see it… it looks like that was the only local stop for their tour

      • Montgomery Playhouse is doing A Midsummer Night’s Dream: This one’s on the calendar

Montgomery College Rockville Campus: I have been staying away from College and High school productions (With exceptions of course)

But The Acting Company doing R&J at GMU on Valentine’s Day: I really do scour the internet looking for little gems like this almost everyday and every now and then I find something that I just missed by days!. I did see R&J in Frederick County last month performed by the Maryland Shakespeare Festival (MDSHAKES.COM). So not a biggie.
Can I ask where you get your info?? cause I can’t believe I missed R&J at GMU.

        Thanks Very much…
        Jamie

      • I think I saw an ad in the Post. It might have been in the Gazette.

  1. Henry VI, Part 2 is going to be incredible at ASC. I’ve been looking forward to it all year. Thanks for mentioning it!

    • My pleasure, I’m just glad they decided to do all the Histories in order. That alone will make it a unique experience, (even though each play is a stand alone story on it’s own). Just the fact that the ASC has taken this on is pretty cool..
