Jamie, Goldstar is a great source for discounted tix. This week they are offering The Merchant of Venice for $34.50. A couple weeks ago they had tix to a Midsummer Night's Dream discounted, but they are expired now. Anyway, worth joining!

Hi Jamie,

Thanks for keeping everyone informed. I just wanted to note that we figured out the problem and fixed it and online sales are now available up to an hour before curtain.

Hello again,
I went back to my local Barnes and Nobles. The name of the series is called "No Fear Shakespeare" by Sparknotes. They cover the "major" plays, but not Winter's Tale I am sorry to say.
Here is the link to Sparksnotes list of plays that they do cover:
http://nfs.sparknotes.com/

Amazon.com has them in stock, and could possibly ship to you if there are no stores near you that carry it.

I do want to say thanks to you for the question though... I ended up buying the "No Fear Shakespeare Sonnets". The plays I don't have a lot of difficulty with, but some of the sonnets have been a bit tough for me to fully grasp.

Hello - I just noticed not that long ago, in a local bookstore a series of books that had Shakespeare's dialogue on one side, and a modern translation, easy to understand on the other side. I will take a look next time and get the publishers name and info...
Thanks

Hi. I would be really greatful if you could provide the original text with a side by side modern text so that everybody can understand the whole story. As I'm not a native English speaker, I find it too difficult to understand each line. There are some web sites providing a summary of Shakespeare's works but I'm looking for a side by side explanation of them.
Please send me your reply to my e-mail.

Hi!,
Yep' Finally decided I was going to take the time (Which has been in very short supply), and jump back in.
The M of V was really cool, If I had known you were going to be there, I would'a said hi, since I really enjoy your web site. Even though I had lag in posting, I was still able to see about 4 plays over the Winter though.
In case your interested there is a new MEETUP.COM group for local Shakespeare lovers at http://www.meetup.com/DC-area-Shakespeare-explorers/ . The first meetup it this Sunday at the Folger Library for Shakespeare's Birthday.
Take Care

I have this production on DVD infact i have the whole collection of this series made in the late 70's and 80's by the BBC.it is a really good buy for lovers of Shakespeare i think. Derek Jacobi as Richard 11 i found a very powerful performance likewise his Hamlet. Derek Jacobi i first saw in( I claudius ) on TV many years ago and thought him an amazing actor. I have recently brought a DVD called Charles Dicken's England with Derek Jacobi as the narrator and he does a really great job taking the viewer to places Dicken's placed many of his books on. This Shakespeare collection has so many good actors including Claire Bloom, Patrick Stewart, to name but a few. If you buy this series i am sure you will not be disappointed i wasn't.
